Bulb Planting Extravaganza
9/11 MEMORIAL GARDEN
November 16, Gedney Park
The Civic Beautification team have purchased over 1000 bulbs to plant at the 9/11 Memorial at Gedney Park in Chappaqua in mid November.
To make this happen we need your help. We need 20 volunteers to plant this large quantity of bulbs. Please register.
Location : Gedney Park, Chappaqua, 9/11 Memorial. As you drive into Gedney Park, the memorial is on your right, a short walk from the parking lot, along a gravel pathway up a hill. Planting Site: The 9/11 Memorial consists of a concrete pathway, with perennial flower beds on either side that leads to a fountain at the top of the hill. We will be planting in 4 locations - 1. The start of the pathway - 2 medium beds; 2. At the top of pathway 2 large beds 3. Small groupings of bulbs next to the metal benches 4. A large bed on the far side of the memorial. Date: Thursday morning, November 16. Weather forecast is dry and sunny. Time: 10am - 1230pm Volunteers We have a 1000 bulbs and will need 20 volunteers to plant them across all 4 sites on one day. Planting Instructions Our design includes different bulbs for each location. All the bulbs will be named and marked in clear plastic bags. Planting instructions on where to plant specific bulbs and quantities will be explained on the day by Emma , Gail and Melanie. A top layer of wood chips will have to be raked away by our volunteers prior to planting. Tools Volunteers should bring their own equipment. Please bring gloves, a kneeling pad, a trowel or bulb planting tools.
